As a ritual performance with Safavid roots and developed during the Qajar era, ta'ziyeh has always tried to convey its concepts to the audience by using new methods and have more impact. In contemporary performing and performing arts, ta'ziyeh is presented as a foundation and it also benefits from contemporary artistic principles. Since the late 1960s, the art of performance has evolved by using visual arts techniques, postmodern philosophy, and theatrical elements, and has increased communication with the audience. This research tries to examine their commonalities and overlaps by comparing Ta'ziyeh and performance art as two artistic performances. The research hypothesis is based on the fact that these two arts have similarities in the field of interaction with the audience and audience-oriented. The overall goal of this research is to present a new approach to traditional arts with a focus on Ta'zia and accepting it as a traditional art in the new performance art environment. This point of view, according to postmodernist thinking, will create the widest connection between traditional and new arts.
